About Claude Monet and Grainstack in the Sunlight, Snow Effect (1891)
Claude Monet (1840–1926) painted this work in 1891, during his Giverny years. In 1890–1891 Monet painted a famous series of grain stacks in the fields next to his house at Giverny, recording them at different times of day and in every season. Exhibited together in 1891, the series was a triumph and changed the way artists thought about light and time. It measures about 65 x 100 cm. It is held in the Museum Barberini in Potsdam (Hasso Plattner Collection).
