About Claude Monet and Springtime (1872)
Claude Monet (1840–1926) painted this work in 1872, during his Argenteuil years, the heart of early Impressionism. Monet was a passionate gardener. At Argenteuil, Vétheuil and above all at Giverny, where he lived from 1883, he created gardens full of flowers that became some of his favourite subjects. It is held in the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore.
