About Claude Monet and The Argenteuil Bridge (1874)
Claude Monet (1840–1926) painted this work in 1874, during his Argenteuil years, the heart of early Impressionism. The river Seine was Monet's lifelong companion. From Argenteuil in the 1870s to Vétheuil, Poissy and Giverny, he painted its bridges, boats, banks and reflections, often from a floating studio boat. It is held in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
