Melzi borrows Leonardo's gentle female type, his soft sfumato and his love of botany, and the jagged blue mountains echo the landscape behind the Mona Lisa. He painted this work around 1518–1522. In the myth, the tree nymph Pomona, worshipped in Latium as goddess of orchards, rejects every suitor until Vertumnus, a shape-shifting god of vegetation and the seasons, visits her in disguise, then reveals his true form and wins her. The figure of Pomona is based on the Virgin in Leonardo's St Anne cartoon. Painted on poplar and measuring about 186 x 135.5 cm, it is held in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Printovly","offers":[{"title":"Digital Download","offer_id":67617304412314,"sku":"PV-FM-010-DD","price":4.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true},{"title":"9x11 inches","offer_id":67617304445082,"sku":"PV-FM-010-9X11","price":9.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true},{"title":"11x14 inches","offer_id":67617304477850,"sku":"PV-FM-010-11X14","price":19.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true},{"title":"12x18 inches","offer_id":67617304510618,"sku":"PV-FM-010-12X18","price":27.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true},{"title":"16x20 inches","offer_id":67617304543386,"sku":"PV-FM-010-16X20","price":33.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true},{"title":"18x24 inches","offer_id":67617304576154,"sku":"PV-FM-010-18X24","price":38.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true},{"title":"20x30 inches","offer_id":67617304608922,"sku":"PV-FM-010-20X30","price":49.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true},{"title":"24x36 inches","offer_id":67617304641690,"sku":"PV-FM-010-24X36","price":54.99,"currency_code":"INR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0781\/0501\/8522\/files\/AL18g_SNz0urMtQKefyqGJM189wffgTYNBVUHFw24Ut2v-1Yt4lc3ua8vRRg3zw9VhdShAhNbKthgXk.jpg?v=1790760794","url":"https:\/\/www.printovly.com\/products\/francesco-melzi-vertumnus-and-pomona-poster","provider":"My Store 3","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
