About Giotto and The Crucifixion (1315)

Giotto (c. 1267–1337) painted this Crucifixion around 1315, probably with help from his workshop, as a small panel for private devotion. It came to Berlin in 1821 with the collection of the English merchant Edward Solly. Painted in tempera on poplar panel and measuring about 60 x 36 cm, it is in the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.
