Everything leads the eye to her nimble fingers and the fine threads, painted sharply, while the red and white threads spilling from the sewing cushion in the foreground dissolve into soft blurs. It is one of the most intimate images in Dutch painting. This art print of The Lacemaker brings calm and focus to studies, craft rooms and bedrooms.

About Johannes Vermeer and The Lacemaker (1669)
Johannes Vermeer (1632–1675) painted The Lacemaker around 1669–1670; it is his smallest painting. The Louvre bought it in 1870, and it later fascinated the Surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, who painted his own version. Painted in oil on canvas and measuring about 24 x 21 cm, it is in the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
