Leonardo da Vinci A Rearing Horse Poster 1503 Wall Art Painting
A Rearing Horse Poster — a powerful red chalk study by Leonardo da Vinci of a rearing horse with its head thrown back, drawn for his lost mural of the Battle of Anghiari.
A Rearing Horse Poster by Leonardo da Vinci — Authentic A Rearing Horse Art Print for Modern and Traditional Interiors
Leonardo tried the horse's head in at least three positions and drew the legs again and again, so the whole animal seems to thrash with movement. A tangle of lines suggests a rider raising his arm to strike, and a small pen sketch below shows another horse twisting backwards. This A Rearing Horse art print brings raw energy to studies, offices, equestrian-themed rooms and modern gallery walls.

About Leonardo da Vinci and A Rearing Horse (1503)
Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) made this drawing around 1503–1504. In 1503 the Florentine government commissioned him to paint the Battle of Anghiari, a huge mural celebrating a victory of 1440, in the Great Council Chamber of the Palazzo della Signoria. It remained unfinished when he returned to Milan in 1506 and was covered over some fifty years later. The sheet, in red chalk with pen and ink and measuring about 15.3 x 14.2 cm, passed through Francesco Melzi, Pompeo Leoni and the Earl of Arundel before entering the Royal Collection by 1690.
