A Standing Male Nude Poster by Leonardo da Vinci — Authentic A Standing Male Nude Art Print for Modern and Traditional Interiors
The model stands with legs apart to balance his weight evenly, and with subtle shading Leonardo reveals almost every muscle of the back, arms and legs. About Leonardo da Vinci and A Standing Male Nude (1504)
Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) made this drawing around 1504–1506, when his preparations for the Battle of Anghiari mural in Florence led him back to a deep study of anatomy and proportion. He drew a series of standing male figures from the front and back as 'background research' on the human form. A cut inscription at the top seems to name the model as a musician called Francesco. The sheet, in red chalk and measuring about 27 x 16 cm, passed to Francesco Melzi, Pompeo Leoni and the Earl of Arundel, and has been in the Royal Collection since around 1690.
