Leonardo's anatomical drawings are among the greatest scientific illustrations ever made. He studied the human body first around 1489 in Milan and again intensively around 1508–1513, claiming by the end of his life to have performed some thirty human dissections, and he combined precise drawings with notes in his famous mirror-writing. It is drawn in pen and ink and measures about 29.2 x 19.8 cm.
