About Marcantonio Raimondi after Raphael and Prudence (1513)
Marcantonio Raimondi (c. 1480–c. 1534) made this engraving around 1513 after a design by Raphael (1483–1520). Marcantonio Raimondi of Bologna was the leading engraver of the Italian Renaissance. From about 1510 he worked in Rome with Raphael, who supplied drawings that Marcantonio turned into prints, while Raphael's assistant Baviera looked after printing and sales. Their partnership spread Raphael's designs across Europe. The print measures about 10.7 x 8.1 cm. This impression is held in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
