About Paul Cézanne and Mont Sainte-Victoire (1902)
Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) painted this work in 1902, during his late years in Aix. Mont Sainte-Victoire, the limestone mountain east of Aix-en-Provence, became Cézanne's most famous subject. He painted it more than sixty times in oils and watercolours, from the 1880s until his death, turning it into an image of permanence built from planes of colour. It is painted in oil on canvas and measures about 63 x 83 cm.
