About Paul Cézanne and The Étang des Soeurs, Osny (1875)
Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) painted this work around 1875, during his Impressionist period, when he worked with Camille Pissarro around Pontoise and Auvers. Using a palette knife, as Pissarro did, he built the landscape from heavy, structured blocks of colour. It is held in the Courtauld Gallery in London.
