About Rembrandt van Rijn and Boaz and Ruth (1645)
Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) made this drawing around 1645. Rembrandt drew constantly — usually not to prepare paintings, but to study the world around him: people in the street, animals, landscapes and scenes from the Bible. Working rapidly with pen, brush and chalk, he could suggest a figure, a space or an emotion with just a few lines. It is held in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
