About Vincent van Gogh and Sunflowers (1888)
Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) painted this canvas in August 1888 in Arles to decorate the room of his friend Paul Gauguin, who was coming to join him in the Yellow House. It is one of five large versions of the subject now in museums around the world, and Van Gogh signed it on the vase. Painted in oil on canvas and measuring about 92 x 73 cm, it is in the National Gallery in London.
