Baptism of Christ Poster by Andrea del Verrocchio and Leonardo da Vinci — Authentic Baptism of Christ Art Print for Modern and Traditional Interiors

On the banks of the river Jordan, John the Baptist pours water over Christ while two kneeling angels look on and the dove of the Holy Spirit descends in golden rays. The painting is famous as the place where Leonardo's talent first shines: his soft, glowing angel and misty landscape stand out beside his master's firmer style. This Baptism of Christ art print captures the luminous river valley, the calm figures and the warm earth tones in fine detail.

About Andrea del Verrocchio and Leonardo da Vinci and Baptism of Christ (1475)

Andrea del Verrocchio (c. 1435–1488) ran one of the busiest workshops in Florence, and Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) received his first artistic training there. Sixteenth-century sources place this panel in the Vallombrosan convent of San Salvi in Florence, and it documents Leonardo working side by side with his master between 1470 and 1475. Technical studies credit the young Leonardo with the angel in profile, parts of the landscape and some of the modelling of Christ's body. Painted in tempera and oil on panel and measuring about 180 x 152 cm, the altarpiece moved from the Accademia in 1810 and has been in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence since 1914.
