About Claude Monet and The Japanese Bridge II (1914)
Claude Monet (1840–1926) painted this work in 1914, during his Giverny years. Monet built a Japanese-style footbridge over the water-lily pond at Giverny in the 1890s, inspired by the Japanese prints he collected. He painted it again and again, from the fresh greens of 1899 to the fiery, almost abstract versions of his final years. It is held in the Fondation Beyeler near Basel.
