About Edvard Munch and Kiss IV (Woodcut) (1902)
Edvard Munch (1863–1944) made this woodcut in 1902. From 1894 Munch threw himself into printmaking in Berlin and Paris, working in etching, lithography and woodcut. He reworked his Frieze of Life motifs again and again, sawing woodblocks into pieces to print each colour separately and using the grain of the wood as part of the image, and his prints spread his art across Europe. It measures about 47 x 47 cm. It is in the Munch Museum in Oslo.
