About Francesco di Giorgio Martini and Recirculation Mill (1465)

Francesco di Giorgio Martini (1439–1501) was a painter, sculptor, architect and military engineer from Siena. In his youthful notebook he copied machines designed by Mariano Taccola and developed his own ideas, later included in his Treatise on Architecture — a text that Leonardo da Vinci owned and annotated. This drawing dates from around 1465–1470.
