About Jan van Eyck and Saint Francis Receiving the Stigmata (1430)

This small painting is attributed to Jan van Eyck (c. 1390–1441) and dates from around 1430–1432. A slightly larger version of the same composition is in the Galleria Sabauda in Turin. Painted in oil on vellum laid on panel and measuring only about 12.7 x 14.6 cm, it is held in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
