Annunciation Poster by Leonardo da Vinci — Authentic Annunciation Art Print for Modern and Traditional Interiors

Leonardo sets the sacred scene in the garden of an elegant Florentine palace. Gabriel offers a lily, his wings modelled on those of a real bird of prey, and his shadow falls naturally on the grass. Mary looks up from her reading at a carved marble lectern, while dark cypress trees and a misty harbour stretch into the distance. This Annunciation art print keeps the soft greens, warm reds and golden light of this wide, panoramic composition — beautiful above a sofa, bed or console.

About Leonardo da Vinci and Annunciation (1472)

Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) painted the Annunciation around 1472, while still working in the workshop of Andrea del Verrocchio. Nobody knows who commissioned it or where it first hung. It came to the Uffizi in 1867 from the sacristy of San Bartolomeo a Monteoliveto, just outside Florence, and was attributed to Domenico Ghirlandaio until critics recognised it as a youthful Leonardo. The work was designed to be seen from below and from the right, which explains the Virgin's long-looking arm. Painted in oil on panel and measuring about 98 x 217 cm, it hangs in the Leonardo room of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
