Studies of Water Poster by Leonardo da Vinci — Authentic Studies of Water Art Print for Modern and Traditional Interiors

Water fascinated Leonardo all his life, and here he freezes a split second of motion with astonishing confidence: layered vortices stretch below the surface and rings of bubbles spread across each other. His own notes describe the beautiful spectacle of rippling water. The result looks strikingly modern, almost abstract. This Studies of Water art print is ideal for bathrooms, coastal homes, studies and minimalist interiors.

About Leonardo da Vinci and Studies of Water (1510)

Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) made this sheet around 1510–1512, during years when he studied hydraulics in great detail and hoped to write a treatise on the subject. Earlier he had surveyed the river Arno for the Florentine government and planned a canal to make Florence navigable from the sea. Drawn in black chalk with pen and ink and measuring about 29 x 20 cm, the drawing passed to Francesco Melzi, Pompeo Leoni and the Earl of Arundel before entering the Royal Collection by 1690.
