About Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Woman by a Spring (1914)
Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919) painted this work in 1914, during his late years at Cagnes. From 1903 Renoir spent much of his time at Cagnes-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean, where in 1907 he bought the estate of Les Collettes. Despite severe rheumatoid arthritis, he painted until his death in 1919, creating radiant bathers, portraits, flowers and landscapes in warm reds and golds. It is painted in oil on canvas and measures about 92.5 x 73.7 cm. It is held in the Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki.
