About Rembrandt van Rijn and Saul and David (1655)
Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) painted this work around 1651–1658. In the First Book of Samuel, David's music soothes King Saul's dark moods. Its attribution was long debated, but after research and restoration it was confirmed as a Rembrandt by the Mauritshuis in 2015. Painted in oil on canvas and measuring about 130 x 164.5 cm, it is held in the Mauritshuis in The Hague.
