About Rembrandt van Rijn and The Jewish Bride (1665)
Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) painted this work around 1665–1669, in the last years of his life. The couple is usually identified as the biblical Isaac and Rebecca, and the popular title dates from the 19th century. Vincent van Gogh said he would give ten years of his life to sit in front of it for two weeks with only a crust of bread.
