About Vincent van Gogh and Tassel Hyacinth (1889)
Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) made this drawing in May 1889. In May 1889 Van Gogh voluntarily entered the asylum of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Despite periods of illness he painted around 150 canvases there — olive groves, cypresses, wheat fields, the asylum garden and colourful interpretations of works by Millet and other artists he admired. It is held in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
