A simple wooden bed, two chairs, a small table and pictures on the walls are painted in bold, flat colours. Van Gogh wanted the painting to express absolute rest, and the tilted perspective gives it a playful, dream-like feel. This The Bedroom art print is a cheerful, cosy choice for bedrooms, guest rooms and kids' rooms.

About Vincent van Gogh and The Bedroom (1888)

Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) painted the first version of The Bedroom in October 1888 in Arles, shortly before Paul Gauguin arrived to stay with him. He was so fond of the picture that he later painted two more versions. Painted in oil on canvas and measuring about 72 x 90 cm, this first version is in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
